Job Title: Part-Time Retail & Pet Care Associate

Location: 5546 Fenton Rd, Flint, MI 48507

Pay: $14.00/hour (with room for yearly raises & promotions)

Hours: Part-Time (15–20 hours/week; shifts range 4–8 hours; weekends required)

What You’ll Do

• Customer Care: Warmly greet shoppers, answer product questions, assist at checkout, process returns, and encourage rewards program sign-ups.
• Store Presentation & Stocking: Receive, price, and stock inventory; face shelves; gather carts; and maintain a clean, organized store environment.
• Pet Care: Maintain in-store animal habitats, feed and water animals, handle pets safely when needed, and monitor animal equipment (fish tanks, filters, lighting).
• Store Operations: Answer incoming phone calls, perform basic store cleaning (sweeping, mopping, maintaining the dog wash station), and follow store safety and inventory procedures.

What We’re Looking For

• Age & Education: Must be at least 18 years old with a High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: Previous retail, customer service, or cash-handling experience preferred.
• Pet Knowledge: Basic understanding of or passion for animal care.
• Skills: Strong teamwork, multi-tasking abilities, basic computer literacy, and basic math skills.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs throughout a shift.
• Reliability: Reliable transportation to commit to scheduled shifts, including required weekend availability.

Cashier/ Sales

• Greeting customers and helping with any questions/concerns they may have on the sales floor.
• Upselling products to increase sales, offer special products and push reward account sign ups.
• Assisting with customer checkout, returns and exchanges
• Answer all incoming phone calls to the store and ability to transfer calls.
• Stocking, scanning, and facing shelves for ease of display and condense areas for any product overflow.
• Maintaining a neat, clean and organized environment.
• Clean shelves, windows, dog wash area and floors (vacuuming, sweeping, mopping)
• Gathering carts inside and outside of store premises
• Learning and Following all company procedures set into place (Incident reports, Inventory procedure, coupons, refunds and more)
• Prioritizing tasks set and being able to multitask when needed
• Helping out with additional duties deemed necessary by the manager on shift.
• Taking lunch breaks when asked by managers.
• Checking all animal equipment is working effectively and at full power (fish tanks, filters, light bulbs and more)
• Clean/maintain all animal habitats, properly feed and water all animals
• Hold and handle all animals when needed
• Price, label and place merchandise in correct display
• Reporting any ripped, torn or damaged merchandise, signs, tags or equipment.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Working Conditions

Pay starts at $14 an hour. Availability for promotion and yearly raises.

Shifts vary between 4 to 8 hours, evening and day shifts available.

We are seeking a hands-on Assistant Store Manager to partner with the Store Manager in driving sales, leading our team, and managing heavy inventory turnover.

This isn't a desk job—it’s an active, fast-paced leadership role perfect for someone who takes pride in maintaining a well-run, efficiently stocked sales floor and motivating an operational team.

Core Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Support the Store Manager in coaching, training, and motivating staff to hit sales goals and maintain store standards.

• Operations & Merchandising: Oversee high-volume stock placement, bulk inventory control, and promotional pricing accuracy.

• Customer & Floor Management: Maintain an organized sales floor, step in to assist with high-traffic customer service, and resolve urgent operational issues on the fly.

Qualifications

• Prior retail or warehouse-retail experience required; leadership experience is highly preferred.

• Strong communication skills and basic computer literacy.

• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

• Physical Capability: Must be able to stand/walk for full shifts and regularly lift/carry up to 50 lbs of bulk pet product.
